These married artisans who met at Art College are deaf and dumb, hence the name of their studio - "A Speechless Studio".
They both specialise in line carving (shallow carving) with the theme of their artwork influenced by their locale, in particular, the scenic beauty of Lijiang Old Town and the dress and culture of the local Naxi national minority. Hence, whilst they may be disabled their work exudes talent and capability.
