The main depiction on this Nepalese hand painted box is of the protector deity Chhepu.

Like all of our Nepalese boxes, this box depicts Buddhist and Hindu symbolism. Besides the representation of Chhepu, the Wheel of Joy which represents the three pillars of Buddhism: the Buddha, the Dharma (teachings) and the Sangha (the Buddhist community) is also shown, together with a cloud motif design.
